How Do I Clean My Designer Bags?

  • 19 January 2010 8:25 am

I have a few expensive designer bags that are getting very dirty (Gucci, Coach, Burberry, Michael Kors, etc). Anyways, I gave them to my dad to bring to the cleaners to get cleaned, but he told me that nobody wants to clean them because they don’t want to be responsible if something goes wrong. I don’t know if he is just saying that because he doesn’t want to spend the money to clean my bags, but what should I do to keep these bags clean? Some of them are fabric and some leather.

FABRIC BAGS- DO A MIXTURE OF BLEACH (2 TABLESPOON), LAUNDRY POWDER (as much as you need ,1 cup should be enough), AND FABRIC SOFTENER (3 TABLESPOON). Put them in a bucket and fill with water. Soak your fabric bags in it, after rinsing them with water. Let soak for up to 5 hrs. Then use a laundry brush and scrub where you can. RINSE OUT WITH WATER THEN LET IT DRIP DRY.
With your leader bags use the same mixture and soak a hard cloth in it, then use it to clean your bag, then wipe it out with a cloth soaked with water and let it dry.

When you bought your bags, they should have included instructions on how you can clean them (unless you bought them online…)
If you bought them in a store, and they didn’t tell you how to clean them, just go back to the stores in which you bought each bag and ask someone there if they could help you.
I wouldn’t trust dry cleaners with them either. The bag might not come with fabric care instructions, like clothes do.
